2013 International Day of the GirlWe are so excited to celebrate the
POWER of GIRLS! The Day of the Girl is a response to an urgent problem facing our world today: the neglect and devaluation of girls. On October 11 of every year, The Blossom Project joins dynamic girl-led groups to highlight, discuss, celebrate and ultimately advance girls’ lives and opportunities across the globe. When girls come together to talk about what really matters to us, we can teach ourselves and other people–adults, boys, and other girls all across the world–new ways of thinking about gender issues, which will help us take action to change the status quo. October 11 is not just a day; it’s a movement… a worldwide revolution. Join us! This year we will celebrate girls through performance art. Local performers - singers, dancers, poets - will use their talent as a call to empowerment for our girls. 2013 Bring-A-Boy EventThe Blossom Project presents:
“Bring-a-Boy” An International Women’s Day Call to Alliance Featuring an interactive, engaging presentation by Project PAVE Approximately one in three adolescent girls in the United States is a victim of physical, emotional or verbal abuse from a dating partner - a figure that far exceeds victimization rates for other types of violence affecting youth. On International Women’s Day, join us for conversation, connection, consciousness-raising and a call-to-alliance around gender-based violence. Nearly 1 in 5 teenage girls in a relationship said a boyfriend threatened violence or self-harm when presented with a break-up. So we’re reaching out to the boys and men in our lives: Bring your dads, uncles, husbands, boyfriends, brothers and cousins! We’re working to build allies, and strengthen efforts to end violence against women. Date: March 8, 2013 Time: 5:30pm -8:00pm Location: GALS School Denver, 200 S University Blvd Cost: FREE (please RSVP) Refreshments will be provided For more information and to RSVP, please visit www.blossomproject.org Or contact Roweena: 720.239.2477 |
